Vacancy for Church Organist: Uddingston Old Parish Church of Scotland

Uddingston Old is a vibrant charge with regular Sunday Worship at 11 am. Due to the death of our Organist, we seek to appoint someone to lead and develop the musical life of the congregation. The current format of the evening service is under review, and will not be a requirement of this post. There will be other occasional Sunday evening services throughout the year at which the organist would be expected to play.

The church has a well maintained Forster and Andrews 1887 30-stop, three-manual and pedalboard pipe organ. A 15 foot Bourdon has been added in recent years.

The small, enthusiastic choir performs an Introit and Anthem at most services. Choir practices are currently held on Thursday evenings October to May.

Fees paid for the performance of this role will be in accordance with Scottish Federation of Organists guidelines and the applicant’s skill and experience. Ideally, the organist would be able to play at weddings and funerals, for which separate fees would be paid.

Further information can be obtained from Jim Vasey, the Session Clerk (01698 817828), to whom expressions of interest and applications should be addressed (jimvasey@hotmail.com).
