Church Garden – July 2021

Well the weather has been mixed the month of June but always more to do and see in the garden. We’re waiting for stalks and leaves of the bulbs to die off before lifting, allowing them to concentrate their energy into the bulb for next year, this also makes the job much easier.

The wildlife garden is a hive of industry when you just sit back and watch. Taking time to observe God’s creation is a gift itself. The birds busy hopping from tree to tree finding wee bugs to keep them fed. The pollinators travelling from plant to plant carrying new life across the garden. Its so interesting to think that these tiny creatures keep us alive by their industry, as without them we couldn’t survive, even with all the advanced technology in our world today. If you look closely you can see the pollen baskets on the bees legs and other pollinators covered in pollen like gold dust and worth just as much if not more.

The summer flowers change the pallet of colours and bring a new phase to the garden as the season progresses.

Muddy church will hopefully start soon so a challenge could be to look at why nature chooses its colours perhaps to attract or deter visitors??

So sit back and enjoy the garden take time to be mindful of the wonders God has created, don’t just rush by. God watches over all of us even the most humble of birds. “His eye is on the sparrow and I know he’s watching me”. Mentioned not only in the Bible but transposed into one of the most famous Gospel songs.

Happening in July is “Our Trees: Exploring Church Land with Citizen Science”. For information see www.exploreourtrees.wordpress.com
