Mixed fortunes for the August weather from drought to flood and back again. They do say variety is the spice if life.
In the garden the birds and pollinators are busy. Some of the flowers are strengthening putting down good roots. Its amazing to think that those thin, fragile roots not only give stability but also essential food supply for growth., without them the plants would die, a bit like the Church. As the hymn goes ‘The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord’ so without the Minister and the people the church would have no enrichment or strength. If we then fail to reach out into the community like spreading roots and share this teaching then the Church cannot support itself or thrive.
Our latest task was to complete the Church tree survey which had to be submitted for 31st of July. It proved an interesting exercise where we found two similar trees that we couldn’t identify. The organisers running the survey think they are either cedar or cypress. Interestingly both of these have biblical connections so it would be nice to think that’s why they were chosen. We both turned into tree huggers trying to measure them.
