Yet again on 6th July 2022 Liz and I set off to the wildlife garden after sunset with Rory joining us this time. We would not be disappointed!! 🦇🦇🦇
We saw a spectacular display, with the bats flying low enough for us to see them quite clearly. There were about 30 sightings. Unlike our last adventure when we saw common pipistrelles, this time they could be choir members, (not that we are saying the choir are batty 🤣) but these were soprano pipistrelles. They communicate at a slighter higher frequency than the common ones which Rory, who was in charge of the bat detector, demonstrated.
It maybe doesn’t appeal to everyone but it was really exciting and makes working on the wildlife garden worthwhile. It just shows that if you provide a home for nature they will come.
We are lucky enough to see a lovely variety of birds, pollinators, bats, hedgehog, various spider species and many more.
One of our next projects will hopefully be to decorate the wooden pallet which is now painted a deep shade of blue. We already have some willing volunteers but any others from the Sunday school would be welcome. We need to get some ideas on how to decorate it but I’m sure that won’t be a problem.
